OTO's Work in the Redevelopment of an Abandoned 19th Century Mill Complex

On October 19, 2012, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the historic Rice Silk Mill Brownfields site, celebrating the revitalization of a once vacant former thread factory. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including Gov. Deval Patrick and Pittsfield Mayor Dan Bianchi, and commemorated the redevelopment of an abandoned 19th century mill complex into residential apartments.
OTO’s work at the project site included remediation of oil-impacted soil at the former power plant, vapor migration assessment, and soil management issues during redevelopment site work. OTO is proud to have contributed to the revitalization of this once abandoned and decaying property, which will have a positive effect on the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsfield.
